What we collect when you use this website or get in touch, why we collect it, and what your rights are.

Who we are

This website is run by EcoGrid Renewables Ltd, a private limited company registered in Scotland with company number SC858500. Our registered office is Clyde Office, 48 West George Street, Clyde Office 2nd Floor, Glasgow, G2 1BP. We are the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us about privacy at quotes@ecogridrenewables.co.uk or on 0141 474 6006.

What we collect, and why

When you send an enquiry through the formYour name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are interested in, any message you write, and (if you used the calculator) the settings and results you were looking at. We also record a reference number for the enquiry, the page you sent it from, the version of the consent wording and privacy notice you saw, and, in the way described below, which advert or link brought you to the site. We use this to reply to you and to arrange a survey or quote. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.
When you call or email usThe details you give us, such as your name, contact details, address and what you are looking for. We use them to answer you and to arrange or carry out work. This is needed to take steps at your request before a contract, and for our legitimate interest in running the business.
When you use the payback calculatorThe settings you choose (panels, roof direction and so on) are worked out in your browser and are not sent to us. They reach us only if you send an enquiry (in which case they go with it) or press “Send us this estimate”, which opens an email that you then send yourself.
Which advert or link brought you hereIf you accept cookies, we keep the campaign tags in the address you arrived from (for example which advert or link you clicked) in your browser for the length of your visit, and send them with your enquiry so we know what brought you here. If you do not accept cookies, we only read what is in the page address at the moment you send an enquiry. We use this to understand which of our marketing works, and our legitimate interest in running the business is the basis for it.
Website analyticsIf you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools are used, for example when someone taps the phone number or uses the calculator. This collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser, and pages viewed. We switch it on only after you accept, and we ask Google to shorten IP addresses.

Cookies

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. If you choose “Necessary only”, no analytics cookies are set. We remember your choice in your browser so we do not keep asking. You can change your mind at any time: . There is more detail in our cookie policy.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We use a small number of providers to run the website and the business:

  • Webflow, which hosts this website and stores form submissions.
  • Our own operations system, to which enquiries are sent so that we can respond to them. It runs on a server in London, with encrypted backups held with a cloud storage provider, and only our staff can sign in.
  • Google, for Google Analytics (only if you accept cookies) and for the fonts used on this site, which are loaded from Google’s servers and so share your IP address with Google when a page loads.
  • Our email and phone providers, which carry your messages and calls.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that happens, they must protect your information to an appropriate standard, for example through the UK’s approved transfer safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, and for as long as the law requires us to keep records (for example, records of electrical installation work). If you ask us to delete your details and we do not need to keep them, we will.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
